Ventanilla de Salud Móvil in Salina, KS

Posted on

We had a successful second Ventanilla de Salud Móvil (Mobile Health Window) this past Saturday April 28thin Salina, KS. The event was held at the Smoky Hills Education Service Center.

The health fair included four screening stations (blood glucose, blood pressure, BMI, and HVI/AIDS), five education stations (cancer prevention, smoking cessation, healthy lifestyles, skin damage, and dental hygiene), and an Ask-a-Doctor station with Dr. Edward Ellerbeck from KUMC who provided individual consultations to participants at the event. Additionally, there were information tables from the local YMCA, the Central Kansas Foundation, the Saline County Emergency Management, the Kansas State Department of Education, and the Smoky Hills Education Center.

A total of sixty people participated in the screenings and received information from the education and information tables. To end our health fair with great excitement and healthiness, the YMCA provided a Zumba session for all of us to participate.

We are very thankful for all the volunteers from El Centro, Inc, UMMAM Clinics, the Central Kansas Foundation, the state of Kansas Department of Education, University of Kansas Medical Center, and the Salina-Saline County Health Department.

Our next Ventanilla de Salud Móvil will take place on Saturday, May 12th in Garden City. To volunteer, provide health education or health screenings, please contact Ramón Concepción at or (913) 945-7873.

Cheers for providing our Latino community access to health care and education! And check out more pictures of the health fair at the Events Gallery page.
