Visiting Tyson Foods in Finney County

Posted on

Moving forward with the Ventanilla de Salud Móvil in Kansas, Juntos director Paula Cupertino and Juntos partners were invited to visit Tyson Foods, Inc. in Finney County, Kansas.

Dr. Paula Cupertino and Cielo Fernandez from El Centro, Inc. met and had lunch with Tyson Foods’ officials to start planning health outreach activities. This initiative will bring health outreach programs to a workforce that is mostly comprised of Latino immigrants.

Ventanilla de Salud is a health outreach program implemented through 50 Mexican consulates in the United States and local health organizations. On November 2011, the Consulate of Mexico in Kansas City, Missouri, and Juntos Center for Advancing Latino Health signed an agreement to establish a Ventanilla de Salud Móvil. This mobile ventanilla has been fostering local partnerships to support, plan, and implement health fairs and health education activities for Latino immigrants in Kansas.

Stay tuned as we plan a health event with Tyson Foods in the fall 2012!
