On Friday, October 12th, 2012, First Lady of Chihuahua, Bertita Gómez de Duarte, and the Director of Seguro Popular of Chihuahua, Pedro Hernández Flores, visited The University of Kansas Medical Center to meet with Dr. Edward Ellerbeck, Chair of the KUMC Department of Preventive Medicine and Public Health, Paula Cupertino, Juntos Director, Ramon Murguia, attorney at law, Leo Prieto, Advisor for the Institute of Mexicans Abroad, and representatives from the Consulate of Mexico in Kansas City.

Juntos Center for Advancing Latino Health is overcoming the barrier of participation by conducting additional cancer education training sessions at different times and days of the week at popular community locations. The cancer education program has become so popular that several community leaders are calling to ask if the training can also be offered during the evenings.
