Research Scholar present on VDS Pediatrics

On September 4th, a line of anxious students at the University of Missouri-Kansas City awaited to present their research projects at the SEARCH Symposium. At the very head of the line stood Idaima Calderon, Juntos student intern, proudly displaying her poster about the new Ventanilla de Salud para Niños (VDSpN) project.

Ventanilla de Salud in Liberal

On July 26th through the 27th Ventanilla de Salud held a health fair in Liberal, Kansas. This year, KUMC medical students, nursing, and nutrition students from Allied Health were able to attend and help out at the fair. Services that were offered at the health fair include health screenings, dermascan, and fluoride treatments. Breast cancer, HIV/AIDS, and nutritional education information was also available. 2014 Internship Opportunities

Juntos Center for Advancing Latino Health offers internships to students looking to pursue a career in public health or medicine. Juntos focuses on health disparities present in the Kansas Latino community.   Interns experience the field of public health by meeting with preventive medicine and public health professors, public health and medical students, and outreach program coordinators. Winter Break with Juntos

Diosselyn Tot: This winter break of 2012, I was able to help out with a research paper focusing on Latinidad and the meaning of being Latino from the point of view of immigrants.  First, I worked on doing a research poster of this paper.
