Mayela is from Mexico City and came to KUMC to complete her year of Social Service as an intern at JUNTOS via an Exchange Program through her school, La Universidad Autonoma del Estado de Hidalgo. She is currently working with the ADORE program as an assistant, helping with the different activities, which include recruiting, enrolling , and interacting with participants
She acquired her degree in nursing and enjoys being an active participant in the community and the general population, tackling issues of public health and emphasizing the first level in health: prevention.
She likes working in the community, something she realized as she was studying at Chitkara University in India, where she was able to enjoy the different culture and different heath system, but also where she found the health education to similar.
She believes that education and the participation of the population with the health team can be the best option for preventing many diseases. She believes in the value of family and friends and considers herself very fortunate because of her wonderful family, and that she’s been blessed with the opportunity to meet amazing friends in each country she has been in.
Here at JUNTOS she wants to learn, gain experience, help, and become an important and special factor for this program.
